Community Speed Watch

Community Speed Watch Documentation

Community Speed Watch (CSW) groups are coordinated by Warwickshire Police but managed and run by volunteers in the community, allowing residents to play a part in making their communities safer while educating drivers.

At approved locations volunteers monitor the speed of passing vehicles with a hand-held speed detection device. Other volunteers will record any offending vehicle details and warning letters will be sent out to the owner of the vehicle by Warwickshire Police. The letter aims to educate the driver, but enforcement and prosecution can follow if this is ignored.

Volunteers receive appropriate training and are supported by officers and staff.

If you are interested in volunteering or forming a CSW group in your area, please contact your local Safer Neighbourhood Team in the first instance. Their details can be found by entering your location on the Warwickshire Police website. For more information about CSW please click here.
