Unnecessary roadside furniture can create a hazard and could contribute to collisions and the severity of injuries caused. Which is why, Warwickshire County Council adhere to Traffic Sign Regulation General Direction (TSRGD) and the Traffic Signs Manual. This gives advice to traffic authorities and their agents on the correct use of mandatory signs and road markings.

If a collision has taken place that results in a fatality, then a member of Warwickshire County Council Road Safety Engineering team will attend the scene with a Police Traffic Management Advisor to carry out a road safety audit to determine if there were any highways defects which may have contributed to the collision.
