Repeat speeders banned

Three drivers caught speeding multiple times in Warwickshire but who failed to change their behaviour were banned for a total of 21 months and fined almost £3,000 at Leamington Magistrates Court on 19 August.
All claimed exception hardship, hoping to avoid a ban, but this was not accepted in all the cases due to their repeat offending.
The drivers were all caught speeding in February this year in 30mph or 40mph speed limits.
One driver from Tamworth had claimed exceptional hardship twice before however, we were able to tell the court that he’d just been captured speeding again in June! He was disqualified for 9 months, fined £1000 and received 4 points.
Another driver from Studley was caught speeding twice in February. He received a 6 month ban, 6 points and 4 points for the two offences and £923 fine.
The third driver from Stratford-on-Avon, was banned for 6 months, fined £1000 and given 5 points on his licence.
Hannah Smith, Police Led Prosecutor said “This is a great result as despite being caught speeding before, every one of these drivers did not take the opportunity to amend their behaviour. Instead they claimed ‘exceptional hardship’ in an attempt to avoid a ban, and this was not accepted by the court.
“Over 50% of fatal collisions involve speed as a factor. To make our roads safer, the behaviour of every driver matters. We need all drivers to always drive within the speed limit and at an appropriate speed for the conditions. If everyone can do this, our roads will become much safer immediately.”
