							Most people don’t like drink and drug drivers as they know they increase the dangers to others on the roads. These concerns are real as each year, on average, 1,899 people are killed or seriously injured as a result of drink or drug driving. In Warwickshire, drink and drug driving are factors in 30 deaths and serious injuries on our roads every year.
 
				
							16 drivers who chose to continue speeding despite already accumulating points on their licence were banned from driving for 6 months from Tuesday 15 July when they appeared at Leamington Magistrates Court.
 
				
							As part of a national 2Wheels two operation in June to improve the safety of cyclists and motorcyclists on our roads, we are sharing moving footage that members of the public submitted to us via Operation Snap as evidence of a potential moving traffic offence.

							During 2024, as part of a new Warwickshire led operation called ‘Op Tenacity’, we and other forces stopped 176 drivers who we believe were intentionally trying to avoid being caught and brought to justice.
 
				
							In a multi-agency road safety operation with Staffordshire Police we intercepted and checked 22 drivers and vehicles were safe and legal as they travelled through the region on the M42 Warwickshire and Staffordshire border.
 
				
							We arrested 64 people for drink driving related offences in December. We arrested a further eight after positive drug wipe tests.
 
				
							A driver from Exhall who tried to avoid a speeding ticket by claiming his car had been cloned, has now got a suspended prison sentence and a criminal record.
