Road safety partners and the public showed how important improving road safety is to them in Warwickshire by walking, running, cycling or horse-riding a total of 593.5 miles in support of the RoadPeace Challenge between 13 and 19 May 2024.

New biker safety initiative with local motorcycle dealers

Warwickshire Road Safety Partnership is working with Alf England in Bedworth, Blade Honda Motorcycles in Stratford-upon-Avon and CMC Bikes in Coleshill to encourage bikers to upskill.

Warwickshire Police stopped and checked 40 taxi drivers and their vehicles in Leamington and Warwick in a joint operation on 6 April 2024.

Drivers caught on camera using handheld mobile phone

During 2023, the public submitted 152 dashcam, headcam or phone videos of drivers suspected of illegally using a mobile phone whilst driving to Warwickshire Police Op Snap to help make Warwickshire’s roads safer.

At the start of the new bike season, Warwickshire Road Safety Partnership attended two biker events over the weekend of 6 and 7 April to engage with bikers about bike maintenance and to encourage bikers to refresh their riding skills.

Warwickshire Police remove record number of uninsured vehicles from the roads

Warwickshire Police seized a record number of 1,425 uninsured vehicles across the county between January and December 2023 – an average of four vehicles every day – and a 9.4% increase in seizures over the previous year.

Driver receives large fine and points for attempting to dodge speeding ticket

A thirty-three year old man from Bilston in the West Midlands was fined £660 and received 6 points on his licence after appearing before Warwickshire Magistrates Court on 26 March 2024 charged with failing to give information relating to the identity of the driver of his Ford Focus car that was caught speeding in Warwickshire on 26 September 2023.
