The families of people killed or seriously injured on Warwickshire’s roads will be given high quality support from Brake, the road safety charity, as part of a new service commissioned by the county’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Philip Seccombe.

Ten per cent of drivers passed a horse and rider either too fast or too close is the result of an Operation Close Pass for horses that took place on Thursday 21 September 2023 on Smeaton Lane in Brinklow.

Ten suspected drink and drug drivers have been arrested over the weekend of 18-21 August with seven of them already charged to appear before magistrates for sentencing.

Warwickshire Road Safety Partnership is urging drivers not to drink or take drugs and drive this Summer after new DfT statistics released on 27 July show the number of people killed in drink drive collisions in 2021 has reached a 12 year high.

The first permanent memorial for road traffic victims in Warwickshire has been unveiled today (Friday 7 July 2023) at Hartshill Hayes Country Park, with a special ceremony attended by representatives of the county’s emergency services, road safety campaigners and local dignitaries.
